I’m in the final stages of my training in body psychotherapy and am taking on my first clients in private practice. I began the training in 2008 and anticipate that I’ll complete the course requirements over the next two to three. The main reason that the training takes several years to complete is that there is an extensive requirement for personal therapy. This is seen as an essential component of becoming a good psychotherapist, and is not necessarily a requirement of other therapy approaches.
My professional background is in mental health care. I’ve worked in the NHS as a mental health nurse for over fifteen years, mainly working with people who are recovering from psychotic episodes but also people experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessional compulsive problems and mania.
If we meet and there is an agreement between us to work together, I would probably encourage you come along once a week to sessions. In terms of duration it would very much depend on what happens and how much you feel the benefit of the work. I charge £35 per session. You can contact me either at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07758151957.
