Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork which connects with the body’s natural capacity to restore health. It uses a very gentle touch to both assess and support the relief of dysfunction, with light contacts being taken up at any part of the body as directed by the patient’s body. Through a subtle interaction between therapist and patient, disturbances in the body are identified and corrected.
In a typical craniosacral session, a client usually will lie (or sometimes sit) fully-clothed on a treatment couch. The therapist will make contact by placing their hands lightly on the client’s body and tune into what is happening by “listening” with their hands to the body’s needs.
Because craniosacral therapy is a very gentle practice, it is suitable for babies, children and the elderly, as well as for those people who are in acutely painful conditions or suffering from chronic health problems. It can also be supportive for those looking to maintain good physical and emotional health.
