EMDR Therapy

Do you have memories of experiences which feel like they are still happening right now, when you think about them?

If you feel overwhelming distress about something from the past, this is your body’s response to trauma and how your brain originally stored that information. There is hope: EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy can provide rapid relief from trauma.

Bilateral stimulation (eye-movement and also other forms such as tapping, alternate sounds through headphones and so on) can aid the process of healing your memory through adaptive processing.

Trauma is more than the obvious, big one-off events, it can be chronic, repetitive stuff. Adverse life events and difficult memories which may not be classified in the DSM definitions for a PTSD diagnosis can still be helped by EMDR and trauma-informed therapy.
