I am a professionally qualified Integrative Counsellor providing non-judgemental and confidential one-off, short or long-term therapy. I work holistically and flexibly with adults, and with a wide range of problems. My specialism is providing counselling to anyone with an ‘ambiguous loss’. I have many years experience working with loss and grief, especially when grief is prolonged or complicated.
Loss can be hard to cope with no matter the circumstances, especially when there has been no closure, it is uncertain or life is in limbo. Sometimes a loved one may be physically present but beyond a person’s reach or perhaps you didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. Examples of ambiguous loss include; missing, immigration, divorce, mental illness, dementia or addiction. In these situations there is no certainty that the person will return to who or where they used to be. A loss can affect your identity, meaning and purpose in life and cause waves of intense emotions. Ambiguous loss is described as the most stressful kind of loss.
By nature, I am a warm, empathetic, patient, caring and grounded person. As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by their Code of Ethics. I have a Certificate of Proficiency from the BACP and I am listed on their Accredited Register which is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
I work face-to-face or by telephone/Skype wherever you are in the UK. I offer a free initial session and you are welcome to contact me just to discover what counselling can offer you, without having to commit. I’m happy to answer any questions or concerns.
