The Medical Approach to Childbirth - Is It Really Beneficial?

Sunday 3rd December 2017, 11:00-17:00

£50 (discounts available)

Shelly (Butterfly Light) is excited to welcome to the UK Jeanice Barcelo who will be travelling from the USA to share with us her pioneering work on pregnancy and childbirth, human sexuality and the influence of pornography in our world. There will be a warm welcome for all who attend.

Bringing a new life into this world truly is sacred. Ideally this entails a conscious and loving conception, a nurturing pregnancy and a safe birth. However, under the umbrella of ‘safety’ the medical community has turned this whole process into a technological approach. And now doctors do what they know… but do they know what they do?

Knowledge is power. Childbirth educator Jeanice Barcelo aims to enlighten healthcare professionals, as well as future parents and grandparents about the actual potential outcomes of these technological routines. The adverse effects of these protocols are not often discussed, but it is important to shed light on how medical interventions can effect the long term health and well being of children and families.

Bringing new life into this world truly is sacred. Be enlightened about all its aspects!

Topics to be addressed include:

  • Prenatal Ultrasound
  • Vaccines during pregnancy and immediately after birth
  • Induction
  • Pitocin/Syntocinin
  • Epidural
  • C-Section
  • Cord Clamping
  • Eye Ointments
  • Hatting
  • Swaddling

About Jeanice Barcelo

Jeanice Barcelo is a researcher, writer, educator and activist dedicated to supporting women and families during the childbearing year. Jeanice is an advocate for gentle birth and views the medicalisation of childbirth as detrimental to the well being of mothers, infants, and families. In her first book, “Birth Trauma and the Dark Side of Modern Medicine,” Jeanice explores this topic in some depth. In her forthcoming book, “The Dark Side of Prenatal Ultrasound,” she will expose the hidden truths about the dangers of ultrasound and its potential impact on future generations.
